About the Event
Sorcha is currently undertaking Masters studies at TU Dublin Conservatoire of Music and Drama under Mairead Buicke, having completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the same institution. Sorcha has enjoyed learning and performing abroad in Italy in the Montefeltrio Festival 2025, and Edinburgh in the Opera Caledonia Vocal Studio Course 2025, studying with industry experts. Sorcha recently made her operatic debut as Cleopatra in Handel’s Giulio Cesare with the TU Dublin Opera Ensemble, and she interpreted Massenet’s Manon in a semi-staged concert production entitled ‘Love, Actually’, also at the Conservatoire. She recently performed alongside pianist, Orlaith Sharkey in a recital at the 2025 Boyle Arts Festival. She will make her professional debut as Galatea Acis and Galatea, and Micaëla Carmen, for Loughcrew Opera and Dublin City Council’s ‘Opera in the Open’ 2025.
Orlaith Sharkey is a Donegal-born pianist and accompanist based in Dublin. She is currently completing a Master’s in Music at MTU Cork School of Music, following a BMus in Pedagogy from TU Dublin Conservatoire and a professional mentorship at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. In 2024, she won the Larchet Memorial Cup for sight-reading accompaniment at Feis Ceoil and was one of the Festival’s official accompanists in 2025. Recent engagements include accompanying the Walter’s State Community College Chamber Choir on their Irish tour, and recitals with Rory Dunne (bass-baritone) and Maria Mulcahy (flute) as part of her Master’s. Orlaith has held piano internships at both the Charles Wood and Glenarm Festivals of Voice. She regularly works with choirs in Dublin and enjoys accompanying ballet classes and teaching piano.
