About the Event

Patrick Galvin is a violinist performing works from Baroque to contemporary premieres. Based in San Francisco, he performs regularly in Europe and North America as a soloist and in chamber settings. He released a duo album, Dear Camilla, in August, 2025 with pianist Jennifer Hou and the pair have been performing their live program, featuring an epistolary narrative this season in the US, Australia, and the UK. Other ‘25-’26 highlights include performances with Benecia Chamber Players for their Bay Area Series Carrots and Counterpoint, and the premiere of a new violin and piano work by Australian composer and ethnomusicologist Jolin Jiang, titled Every Wheel Turns. Galvin’s first album, Violin Alone, features solo works by Telemann, Bach, and Ysaÿe. He has commissioned and premiered numerous new pieces for violin and small ensembles, including multiple works from Bay Area composers and he is a sponsored affiliate of the arts agency InterMusicSF. Since his solo debut at age 11 with the Oakland Symphony, Galvin has performed many concertos with orchestras in the United States, and recital tours have taken him across North America, Europe, and Australia. Patrick was a student of Camilla Wicks, Wei He, and Simon James at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and Barbara Gorzynska at the Prayner Konservatorium in Vienna.

Pianist Jennifer Hou, based in Sydney and Canberra, brings her rich interpretive voice to this collaboration. Known for her passion for French Impressionist, Russian Romantic, and contemporary music, Hou has performed at venues including the Sydney Opera House and Steinway Hall (NYC), and was a concerto soloist with the North Sydney Symphony Orchestra. A graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she studied with Corey McVicar and Jon Nakamatsu, she earned her Master’s in Piano Performance with the 2022 President’s Award and support from several foundations. Hou also holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) under the tutelage of Bernadette Harvey and a law degree from UNSW, and is an admitted solicitor in New South Wales.
