Leanne Fitzgerald is an accomplished Irish mezzo-soprano and graduate of the TU Dublin Conservatoire, where she studied with Stephen Wallace and repetiteur Aoife O’Sullivan. She is currently a member of the Irish National Opera Studio 2024/25. This season, she performed Giovanna in Rigoletto (Verdi) and Ida in Die Fledermaus (J. Strauss). Her previous roles with Irish National Opera include the Notary in Don Pasquale (Donizetti), Noble Orphan 3 in Der Rosenkavalier (R. Strauss), and the Slave in Salome (R. Strauss). Leanne also created the role of Maeve Shine in the world premiere of The Ballybruff Trilogy by Luke Byrne and Shirley Keane with Opera Workshop Limerick. Early in her career, she was a Company Artist at Cork Opera House, where she sang Pitti-Sing in The Mikado (Gilbert & Sullivan).
A passionate ensemble singer, Leanne was a regular member of Chamber Choir Ireland from 2017 to 2022 under Paul Hillier. She joined Teodor Currentzis’ Utopia Choir in 2023–24 at the Salzburg Festival, performing in The Indian Queen (Purcell), Don Giovanni (Mozart), and concert works including Mozart’s Great Mass in C Minor and Bach’s St Matthew Passion. Leanne’s versatility and artistry continue to distinguish her in Ireland’s vibrant classical music scene.
