About the Event
Mengze Shen
Mengze Shen is a 25-year-old pianist with an unwavering passion for music
and a master’s degree from the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), from which she graduated in June 2025. Under the expert tutelage of Professor Lance Coburn for piano and Professor David Adams for harpsichord and organ, Mengze is proficient across a wide range of repertoire, including solo piano, harpsichord, organ, piano accompaniment, and chamber music, and continues to build a distinguished performance profile.
Mengze has further refined her artistry through participation in masterclasses
with several renowned pianists. Notably, she was selected for the 2024 Camerata Ireland Academy, where she received mentorship from the esteemed pianist Barry Douglas. This opportunity culminated in an invitation to perform at the Young Musicians Showcase Concert at the Clandeboye Music Festival in August 2024. In November 2025, she participated in a piano masterclass with Professor Tiffany Poon as well as a chamber music masterclass with Professor Ruth Gibson, further enriching her interpretative insight and collaborative musicianship.
Mengze’s recent performances demonstrate her versatility as both a pianist

In September 2025, she appeared at St. Ann’s Church with violinist Jisun Min, performing sonatas by Francis Poulenc (FP 119) and César Franck. Her harpsichord engagements include RIAM’s International Early Music Day 2024 and performances at St. Ann’s Church and RIAM ChamberFest with two sopranos, featuring works by Louis Couperin, Strozzi, Monteverdi, and Purcell. At ChamberFest, she also performed Ravel’s Chansons Madécasses in a chamber ensemble to enthusiastic audience response.
Mengze’s talent has been recognized in various prestigious competitions. In
the 2023–2024 academic year, she excelled at PianoFest, winning second prize in the Audrey Chisholm Sonata Cup and receiving a Highly Commended award in the Margaret O’Hea Recital Cup. Her collaboration with soprano Lanyi Yan at the Vivaldi International Music Competition was equally successful, earning them first prize in the Baroque Group B and the Excellent Interpretation Special Prize. Additional achievements include a gold medal in professional piano solo at the 13th International Chinese Arts Festival Piano Competition, among others.
Dedicated to advancing classical music, Mengze continues to refine her artistry
in piano, accompaniment, chamber music, harpsichord, and organ, aspiring to make a lasting impact on the classical music world.
