We are delighted to present the Kandinsky Quartet in their debut concert tour of Ireland, which follows their participation at the Esker Festival 2025. The Kandinsky Quartet – founded in Vienna in 2020 – is quickly making its presence felt across Europe. With a keen ear for colour and a sharp musical instinct, the ensemble explores the richness of the string quartet repertoire through four distinct characters and artistic perspectives.Based in Vienna, one of Europe's cultural capitals, the quartet represents a synthesis of traditional chamber music expertise and a dynamic, modern approach to music. The Kandinsky Quartet is known for its deep engagement with the classical repertoire as well as its innovative approach to contemporary works and unconventional concert formats. In April 2024, they were awarded First Prize at the Gasteig Competition in Munich. Previous accolades include prizes at the Boccherini and Mozart Competitions, as well as the “Verbier Anniversary Prize.”

The concert will feature a charming divertimento by Mozart, a new composition based on Irish Folk Music by Galway composer Peter Joyce, a beautiful work by contemporary American composer Caroline Shaw and Ravel's mellifluous Quartet in F.
