Jakub Tchorzewski – bio
Jakub Tchorzewski, described as one of “the most expressive of pianists and the finest of collaborative artists” (MusicWeb International) has performed across Europe and the United States. According to The Strad he “responds with high-octane passion and abandonment”.
Born and raised in Poland, Jakub currently lives in Italy, where he has been invited to play, both as soloist and chamber musician, at important music festivals like Biennale Musica in Venice, Serate Musicali in Milan, Bologna Festival and Nuova Consonanza Festival in Rome. He performed in Rome at the Quirinale Palace broadcasted by Italian National Radio, in Venice at the Teatro La Fenice, at the Philharmonic Halls of Warsaw and Bucharest as well as during Festivals “Warsaw Autumn”, “Poznan Musical Spring”, “Frisch gestrichen Basel” and “Musical Autumn of Cluj-Napoca”.
He has recorded over twenty well received by international music press CD albums, released by Acte Préalable, Dux, Musiques Suisses, Tactus, Vermeer, Warner Music Poland and RecArt labels, which got nominations to some prestigious awards like the ICMA or the Opus Klassik. His interest in forgotten or rarely performed repertory led him to record World Premieres of works by Sándor Veress, Gino Gorini, Ugo Amendola, René de Boisdeffre, Ignaz Friedman, Raul Koczalski and Roman Palester.
In the field of the Contemporary music he took part in the premiere performances of pieces written by Giovanni Bietti, Alessandra Ciccaglioni, Federico Gardella, Ardian Halimi, Katarzyna Kwiecień-Długosz, Filippo Perocco, Marcin Stańczyk and Alex Stein. The Polish composer Krzysztof Meyer expressed himself about the CD featuring his Sonata op. 99 in the following way: “Your recording is excellent in all respects. It is exactly how I imagined my Sonata while writing it.”
Jakub Tchorzewski graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland. He studied also at the Musikhochschule Lübeck, Germany, and at the Hochschule der Künste Bern, Switzerland, as well as at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in the USA.
Currently he teaches piano at the Castelfranco Veneto and Reggio Emilia Conservatories previously serving at faculties in Venice, Turin, Padua, Latina and Udine.
