About the Event

"Bringing together musicians from Romania and Ireland, the “InTERRActions’ project features four concerts showcasing recent compositions from both countries, alongside beloved works from the global classical repertoire. The ensemble includes flutist Matei Ioachimescu, pianist Horia Mihail, violist Andreea Banciu, cellist Adrian Mantu, and pianist Aileen Cahill, offering audiences a vibrant and diverse musical experience that bridges traditions and contemporary expressions.


Adrian Mantu – Cellist (RO - IE): A graduate of the National University of Music in Bucharest and the Royal Academy of Music in Dublin, he is a founding member of ConTempo Quartet and performs internationally as soloist and educator.


Horia Mihail – Pianist (RO): A graduate of Boston University, he is one of Romania’s leading pianists, performing internationally as a soloist and orchestral collaborator, with a repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary.


Aileen Cahill – Collaborative Pianist (IE): A graduate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music and TU Dublin Conservatoire, she frequently performs as part of Duo Anima with violist Andreea Banciu, exploring both standard and lesser‑known repertoire. She currently teaches at TU Dublin and Maynooth University.


Matei Ioachimescu – Flutist (RO): Educated at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, he is renowned for his expressive playing and innovative programs, performing worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician.


Andreea Banciu – Violist (RO - IE): Educated in Bucharest, London, and Madrid, she is a founding member of the ConTempo Quartet and currently teaches viola and chamber music at TU Dublin and the Royal Irish Academy of Music.


Diana Gheorghiu – composer (RO): A graduate of the National university of Music Bucharest, she is an internationally commissioned composer and cofounder of

the ICon Arts Transilvania Academy and Festival. Diana curates award-winning cultural programmes in jazz, classical and contemporary music.
