Duo Formosa

Duo Formosa presents a diverse body of repertoires that include chamber works for duo and solo with works from Formosa (aka Taiwan), too. Duo Formosa has toured extensively throughout the United States, performing at major concert halls and museums.

Huifang Chen enjoys a dual career as a performer and educator. She is the Concertmaster of the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, Music Director of the Greater Miami Youth Symphony and a Professor of Violin at the New World School of the Arts in Miami. She studied with Jascha Brodsky at the Curtis Institute of Music and has performed as a soloist with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra (Taiwan) and Brno Philharmonic (Czech Rep.). Ms. Chen’s students are frequent winners at both local and international competitions and attend music schools such as the Curtis Institute of Music and Juilliard School.

Dr Catherine Lan has performed in Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Canada, Mexico, France, United Kingdom, Slovenia, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the USA. As a soloist, she performed with orchestras including Milwaukee Symphony, Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, Sinfonia of the North Shore, British-Columbia Chamber, Fifth Avenue Chamber, Braddell Heights Symphony, Frost Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, Broward Symphony, Palm Beach Atlantic Symphony, and Edmonton Symphony. Dr Lan serves on the faculty of Broward College and records for Centaur Records.
