The Guilmault-Dubois Duo was formed following a chance meeting between the two artists. Their immediate musical rapport led them to begin performing together, and their spirited and virtuosic style soon earned them the nickname “the explosive duo.”

The great Hungarian pianist György Cziffra was an important influence on both musicians. Ludmilla Guilmault was discovered by Cziffra when she was just eleven years old, while Jean-Noël Dubois had the opportunity to meet him at the age of twenty-four. When they decided to establish themselves as a duo, Cziffra’s name and musical legacy provided a natural source of inspiration.

Both performers possess strong and dynamic musical personalities, particularly suited to repertoire inspired by folk traditions, including the music of Chopin and Liszt. Their complementary styles combine virtuosity and passion with a shared enthusiasm for music of vivid character.

At the same time, the Duo proudly embraces its French and Spanish musical heritage, with a repertoire encompassing composers such as Debussy, Ravel, de Falla, Fauré, Albéniz, Granados and Satie.

Their distinctive approach is represented by their album *Satie 2016*, released on the Triton label to mark the 150th anniversary of Erik Satie’s birth.
