About the Event

BREAK WITH THE HUNGRY THY BREAD

St Ann's Church Celebrating 300 years

1723-2023

On Friday the 8th of December at 8pm, St Ann's is hosting a concert called "Break with the Hungry thy Bread" to mark the tercentenary of the earliest monument in the Church, the Bread shelves. Since 1723, following the bequest of Lord Newtown of Newtown Butler, the church has made daily bread available to anyone who chooses to receive it. Today this spirit continues with the Black Santa appeal among other charitable activities by the parish.

The programme will include works by composers associated with the Church and parish sung by St Ann's Church Choir. They will be joined by the Con Tempo String Quartet, Ruby Ashley, David Agnew, Adelah Davis and Cormac Hannon to perform Bach's Cantata BWV 39 "Brich dem Hungrigen dein Brot" - Break with the Hungry thy Bread.
