Benjamin Errington is an accomplished violist with a very broad musical and intellectual background. From a young age he began participating in major folk festivals and national competitions in the UK on both viola and violin. At aged 18 he was a finalist in the BBC Young Musicians competition and went on to graduate with First Class Honours from the Royal Northern College of Music and the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. His career has combined Classical viola repertoire and Traditional Irish music as parallel interests and his professional engagements have included concerto performances in the UK, Ireland and Canada. Benjamin has performed with renowned musicians such as Ralph Kirshbaum, the Navarra Quartet and pianist Ian Brown and is a member of the Aeneas Ensemble and Meridian Duo.
He has wide experience as an international freelance orchestral violist in Europe
and the UK, and obtained his PhD from Trinity College Dublin in 2024 where he
researched musical aesthetics. He has two academic publications and a book
collaboration coming out in 2026. Benjamin also launched Celtic Viola & Fiddle
on YouTube to promote Traditional Irish Music on the viola in original arrangements.
