In 2020, Andrew was awarded Music Network’s Musician-in-Residence for Dún Laoghaire– Rathdown, during which time his original composition Circuits premiered on RTÉ Lyric FM. A dedicated advocate for contemporary music, he has been a member of Glasshouse since 2018. The ensemble is in high demand on the Irish music scene, with performances at numerous festivals including Altogether Now, Forbidden Fruit, and Galway International Arts Festival, as well as venues including The Sugar Club, IMMA and Pavilion Theatre. In 2025, Glasshouse performed their Ryuichi Sakamoto inspired programme to a sold-out audience at the National Concert Hall.
Undergraduate studies in violin were completed at RIAM with a First Class Honours BA in 2015. Receiving the RTÉ Lyric FM bursary to pursue a Master’s at UL, he studied in Limerick under Katherine Hunka, concertmaster of the Irish Chamber Orchestra.
Andrew performs on a 2021 violin by award-winning luthier Noémie Viaud, funded by Music Network and The Arts Council. Other awards received include the DLR Emerging Artist Bursary, DLR Bursary and the Arts Council Agility Award.
Recently finding a new passion in composition, he founded the trio Ikigai, performing his own works and those by contemporary composers, and in May 2023 he was selected to compose a new piece for Ficino Ensemble. Committed to supporting the creation of new work, Ikigai have commissioned and premiered works by several contemporary composers including Daniel Davis, Aran O’Grady and Stephen Gardner.
